Syringa pubescens ‘Miss Kim’, commonly known as Miss Kim Lilac, is a compact deciduous shrub admired for its fragrant lavender to ice-blue flower clusters that bloom in late spring. Growing 4 to 9 feet tall and wide, this cultivar is known for its hardiness, compact size, and improved resistance to disease compared to common lilacs.
Miss Kim Lilac’s dense, rounded habit makes it perfect for foundation plantings, borders, or as a specimen shrub. Its flowers are intensely fragrant and attract butterflies and other pollinators, while the foliage turns a rich burgundy in fall for additional seasonal interest.

Miss Kim Lilac thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soils. It performs best with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day and appreciates good air circulation to prevent mildew.
Miss Kim Lilac is a compact, mounding shrub that typically grows 5 to 8 feet tall and 5 to 7 feet wide, making it ideal for smaller landscapes, foundation plantings, or hedges.
: Miss Kim blooms later than Common Lilacs, usually in late spring to early summer (May to June). It produces fragrant, pale lavender to icy blue flowers that fade to a light pink as they age. The flower clusters are smaller but highly aromatic.
Yes! Unlike many lilacs, Miss Kim offers excellent fall foliage, turning shades of burgundy and reddish-purple, adding seasonal interest beyond its spring blooms.
No, it’s considered low-maintenance. It benefits from pruning immediately after flowering to maintain shape and encourage new blooms. It’s more disease-resistant (especially against powdery mildew) than Common Lilacs and is generally pest-free.
