Product Description

Cercis canadensis, commonly known as Redbud, is a native deciduous understory tree valued for its early spring flowers, graceful branching, and adaptability to a wide range of landscape settings. This small to medium-sized tree typically grows 20 to 30 feet tall with a rounded to spreading canopy, making it well suited for residential landscapes, woodland edges, and native plantings.

In early spring, before the leaves emerge, clusters of small pink to purple pea-like flowers line the bare branches and even the trunk, creating a striking seasonal display. Heart-shaped green leaves follow, forming a light, airy canopy through the growing season. Its naturally layered form provides year-round structure and visual interest.

Redbud grows best in full sun to part shade and prefers well-drained soils, though it adapts well to average garden conditions once established. It is relatively low maintenance and performs reliably in both formal and naturalistic designs, making it one of the most popular native flowering trees.
